Exploring Barker's Professional Meal Sauces and Bases
Here in New Zealand, our culinary landscape is known for our diversity, innovation and high-quality ingredients. However, in recent years we have been facing a significant shortage of skilled chefs. According to the Restaurant Association of New Zealand, the shortage is generating a supply-demand imbalance that hampers the growth of restaurants, cafes and food establishments across the nation.
In response to the current industry environment, the team at Barker's Professional have crafted a range of nine innovative Meal Sauces and three Meal Bases to provide time-efficient and hassle-free solutions that don't compromise on quality and alleviate the pressure on culinary professionals.

Say hello to our newest Meal Sauce flavour! Curried Sausages joins our famous range just in time for winter/spring menus 2023.
This product does not contain sausages! Rather, it’s inspired by the flavour of curried sausages and is vegan friendly, dairy free and gluten free.

These tasty, ready-to-use, chef-tested, Meal Sauces are designed to help reduce preparation time, allowing the culinary team to consistently prepare a great dish. They are cost-effective, conveniently packed in resealable one-kilogram pouches, readily available through your local distributor, and, of course, made in New Zealand.
Simply mix through cooked chicken, fish, beef, tofu, vegetables, or whatever your menu calls for. Then heat and serve. To make our Meal Sauces friendly for a wider range of dietary requirements, we have optimised sodium and sugar levels per 100g and included vegetables where appropriate. Like our Meal Sauces, our Meal Bases have also been through chef-testing. These products have been crafted to deliver consistent flavour to each dish. They consist of a concentrated ’wet’ base, ideal for soups and sauces when mixed with water or stock.
