Teriyaki Steak

Serves 12

Ingredients:

  • 1.5kg sirloin steak, fat and sinew removed

  • 600ml Barker’s Professional Teriyaki Meal Sauce

  • ½ cabbage, shredded finely

  • 60ml vegetable oil

  • 20g toasted sesame seeds

Method:

  1. Cut the wide sirloin down the middle to make into fillets.

  2. Place the fillets into a long, deep-sided tray.

  3. Add the Barker’s Professional Teriyaki Meal Sauce and turn to evenly coat. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 8 hours.

  4. Meanwhile, store the cabbage in water in the refrigerator to crispen up.

  5. Heat a skillet.

  6. Pat dry the sirloin, reserving the meal sauce.

  7. Place the sirloin down on the skillet. Initially apply some pressure then cook 8 minutes each side, basting with the meal sauce as you cook both sides.

  8. Drain the cabbage (a salad spinner is good for this), then toss the cabbage through the sesame seeds.

  9. Thinly slice the sirloin, lay over the sesame cabbage, and spoon over any of the remaining meal sauce.
