Classic Shakshuka

This classic shakshuka features a rich, spiced tomato base infused with garlic, cumin and paprika, topped with perfectly baked eggs and creamy feta. Finished with yoghurt and fresh coriander, it’s a comforting, flavour-packed dish that’s perfect for sharing any time of day.

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Large Onion, Halved and Thinly Sliced
  • 400 ml Barker's Professional Shakshuka Filling
  • 375 ml Chopped Tomatoes In Puree
  • 3 Garlic Cloves, Thinly Sliced
  • 1 tsp Cumin, ground
  • 1 tsp Sweet paprika
  • ⅛ tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 140 g Feta cheese, crumbled
  • 6 Large Eggs
  • Greek Yoghurt
  • chopped coriander

Method

  1. Heat oven to 190°.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until very soft.
  3. Add the Barker’s Professional Shakshuka Filling, chopped tomatoes and seasoning. Simmer until thickened. Stir in the crumbled feta.
  4. Gently crack the eggs into a skillet over the tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake until the eggs are just set (7 to 10 minutes).
  5. Stir some of the coriander into the yoghurt and sprinkle some on top of the eggs, and serve.
