Sweet & Sour Chicken

This dish features crispy chicken pieces coated in a tangy sweet and sour sauce, often accompanied by bell peppers, onions, and pineapple. It’s a crowd-pleaser that’s perfect for gatherings!

Ingredients

  • 625 g Uncooked Diced Chicken
  • 500 g Barker’s Professional Sweet & Sour Meal Sauce
  • 50 ml Water
  • A little oil
  • 1 7/20 kg Cooked Rice
  • 700 g Blanched Vegetables of Choice

Method

  1. Stove Top
  2. Prepare a large pan with a spray of oil and put to heat on medium to high.
  3. Fry chicken until golden brown, turning to ensure pieces are cooked through (10 to 15 mins) add the blanched mixed vegetables in to cook in the last 5 minutes.
  4. Reduce the heat and pour in the Barker’s Professional Sweet & Sour Meal Sauce along with the water.
  5. Stir into the chicken and vegetables until well combined and warmed through
  6. Serve with cooked rice.
  7. Oven
  8. Preheat oven to 200oC, prepare an oven pan with a light coating of oil.
  9. Place diced chicken into the oven pan and cook on high temperature for 10-15 minutes. Turn chicken once during cook to ensure all pieces are cooked through.
  10. Remove tray from the oven and reduce oven heat to 180oC, add blanched mixed vegetables to the pan with the chicken.
  11. Pour Barker’s Professional Sweet & Sour Meal Sauce and water into the pan together with chicken and vegetables and stir in until well combined.
  12. Return pan to the oven to heat sauce on low heat for 5-10 minutes or until meal sauce begins to steam.
  13. Serve with cooked rice.
