Chocolate Caramel Afghans

Everyone loves a good Afghan and this recipe brings together everything your Afghan dreams are made of; crunchy, chocolatey, creamy, and nutty - topped with our smooth Dulce de Leche.

This recipe makes 15 large or 30 small Afghans - you choose!

Ingredients

  • 200g softened Butter
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups Plain flour
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
  • 2 cups Corn Flakes

Icing

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Mix in flour and cocoa powder.
  3. Add in cornflakes and mix until combined.
  4. Roll the dough into balls and flatten with a spoon. Bake in the oven for 12 minutes.
  5. Once cooled, spread a teaspoon of Barker's Dulce de Leche on each biscuit. Place in the fridge while you melt the chocolate.
  6. Once chocolate is melted, carefully spread over the top of each biscuit (this is best done using a spoon).
  7. Leave until set.
