Pizza Dough Base
Serves Approximately 5 Pizza Bases person
This classic pizza dough base creates a light, airy crust with the perfect balance of chew and crispness. Simple to prepare and incredibly versatile, it’s the ideal foundation for everything from traditional toppings to more creative flavour combinations.

Ingredients
- 1 kg Flour
- 700 g Water
- 20 g Salt
- 2 g Yeast
Method
- Combine 3 or 4 tablespoons of the warm water with the yeast in a small ramekin. Mix together and set aside.
- Using a dough hook, mix the flour and remaining warm water together on medium speed for 5 or 6 minutes. Cover the dough and leave to rest for 30 minutes.
- Add the salt and yeast mixture. Mix for a further 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the mixer and place in a greased tub with a lid. Leave to rest for 60 minutes.
- With wet hands, give the dough a fold, replace the lid and leave to rest for another 60 minutes. With wet hands, give another fold. Leave to rest for 2 hours.
- Tip out the dough onto a floured work surface and divide into 5 portions, each weighing approximately 300 grams. Mould these into rounds, cover with a damp cloth(s) and leave for 30 to 60 minutes.
- Roll into your desired pizza shape and place your fillings of choice on top.
- Bake in a hot oven (or preferably a pizza oven), at 300°C+ for 5 to 7 minutes.
